Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Cynthia (Cindy) Tegman was born in Seattle, Washington, on Nov. 1, 1963, to Harry and Carolyn Allen. She passed peacefully on Nov. 6, 2024, at Ray Hickey Hospice in Vancouver, Washington, due to long-term complications of hepatic encephalopathy.
Cindy was the second youngest of five sisters. Growing up, Cindy was an athlete on softball, basketball, and swim teams. She was also musically inclined, playing the saxophone and singing in her church’s youth choir. She graduated Shorecrest High School with honors in 1982.
After high school, Cindy continued her education at Shoreline Community College. She began working for Nordstrom full-time in 1984. Her strong managerial and people skills were apparent, and she spent many years in store management positions (Brass Plum, Savvy, Individualist, Gallery, and Collectors) across downtown Seattle and nearby regions. She married her husband, Todd, in 1994. She was recognized as a company All Star and was promoted to a buyer position in 1994, where she thrived until retiring from the company in 1998 to focus on raising her two young kids, Megan and Colin.
Cindy excelled in motherhood just as she did in her professional life. Her creativity, hands-on attitude, and boundless compassion extended not just to her own kids, but to their friends and peers, making her the definition of a Cool Mom loved by all. She treasured her sisters, nieces, and nephews, never forgetting a birthday and mailing cards full of kind words and cute stickers.
The family moved to Hood River, Oregon, in 2001, where Cindy joined Schwab Sports Reps in 2003 as a buyer and sales rep with brands like Dakine, Hurley, Volcom, and Nixon. She was an avid supporter of her kids’ sports and musical endeavors. In 2013, she accompanied her daughter Megan as a chaperone on a high school choir trip to Ireland, somewhere Cindy had always dreamt of visiting.
She joined Brand Builders in 2015 and moved to Battle Ground, Washington. She retired in 2021 as hepatic encephalopathy began to impact her cognition and energy levels.
Cindy’s bright spirit and personality shone until the very end. She spent her final months living at home and cared for by family, particularly her husband, Todd.
Cindy was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn, and is survived by her husband Todd; her children Megan and Colin; her father Harry; her sisters and their spouses, Chris, Connie (Ken), Caren (Dan), and Cathy (Stuart); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Jan. 11 at noon at Crossroads Community Church, Vancouver, Washington.
