Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Carol Ann Baker, 74, a resident of Hood River, Ore., lost her battle with cancer and passed away in her home Saturday in the company of her husband and son.
She was born to the late Harry and Katie Heaton in Fargo, N.D. The family moved to the Hood River area where Carol spent her childhood and attended school.
After school, Carol moved to California where she later met and married her husband of 46 years, Larry Baker. Carol and Larry eventually returned to the Hood River area.
Carol managed Tom's Drive-In for several years and then worked at Stadelman Fruit prior to retiring.
Carol was an energetic and supportive: wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister and friend to many. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church. She was passionate about making a difference in people's lives. She volunteered her time to help and visit shut-ins and senior citizens without families.
Carol was loved by many and shared her strength and vitality to whomever she came in contact with.
Carol is survived by her husband, Larry Baker; her son, Stan Baker; daughter in-law, Dana Baker; grandsons Scott, Sean and Spencer; two great- grandchildren; sisters Betty Parmley, of Forest Grove, and Bernice Arthur, of Hood River; and several nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 11, at 3 p.m. at The First Baptist Church of Hood River, 1889 Belmont Drive.
Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals, Receptions, Cremations), 1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River, OR 97031; 541-386-1000. Please visit www.andersonstributecenter.com to leave a note of condolence for family.
