Bill Takasumi was born in Hood River, Ore., to Mas and Mitsue Takasumi on Jan. 7, 1955. He was raised in Hood River and graduated in 1973 from Hood River Valley High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Portland State University.
He worked for several years as a computer programmer/analyst for PGE, DCCA and UBS. This resulted in Bill living in Oregon, Texas, Maryland, Washington, California and most recently, New Jersey.
Bill retired in Tualatin, Ore., to be with his family. He enjoyed skiing, golfing and spending time with family. Bill was a favorite amongst his nieces and nephews, as he made time for them and catered to their every need.
He is survived by his mother, Mitsue Takasumi, of Tualatin, Ore.; three brothers, Dennis Takasumi (Debra), of Kennewick, Wash., Robert Takasumi (Alice Chan), of Portland, Ore., and Richard Takasumi (Deanne), of Tigard, Ore.; sister Myra Takasumi Blackmun (Gary), of Tualatin, Ore.; nephews Kris Takasumi and Jeffrey Takasumi; nieces Alexis Takasumi-West (Shane), Logan Meyers, Jennifer Takasumi, Jessica Blackmun, Brenna Blackmun, Halle Blackmun and Riley Blackmun; and great-nieces Chloe Meyers and Lily Meyers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mas Takasumi.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 3, at 1 p.m. at Anderson's Tribute Center.
