Alicia [Schafer] Rivers passed unexpectedly in her home in Parkdale, Oregon, on Dec. 30, 2024. She was born on July 7, 1977, in Salem Oregon, to parents Linda Ramsey and Robert Schafer. She grew up in Hood River, Oregon. Alicia is survived by her husband, Aaron Rivers; daughter and son-in-law Devyn and Joby Cook; daughter Madison Rivers; grandson Calder Cook; sister Shannon Schafer; and niece Olivia and nephews Ethan and Leo. She is predeceased by her mother, Linda Ramsey, and father, Robert Schafer.
In January 2006, she married Aaron Rivers, with whom she spent a beautiful 25 years. In 2001, they brought their baby girl Madison into the world, making Alicia’s eldest daughter born in 1994, Devyn, a big sister. Alicia held a number of different jobs over the years, but spent more than 20 years in her most cherished roles of mom and homemaker.
Alicia never met a hobby she didn’t like — especially those that let her express her creative nature. She was a gifted writer and enjoyed scrapbooking, cross-stitch, painting, and card-making. Among her other favorite pastimes were reading, traveling, Lego builds, video games, movies, music, and she took special interest in medical biology and family ancestry. But her favorite way to spend time was with her husband Aaron, two daughters Devyn and Madison, and new grandson Calder.
She was incredibly intelligent, kind, resilient, loving, funny, generous, and irreplaceable in every sense of the word. She was a devoted and loving wife, a selfless and dedicated mother, an adoring nana, a loyal friend, and a rescuer of animals. Her absence has left a hole that cannot be filled, but her indelible spirit lives on in the lives of those she touched and the wonderful memories she leaves with those she loved. There is no doubt among her family that she will find peace with her mother, Linda, whom she has missed for many years.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family has requested that donations be made to Columbia Gorge Cat Rescue, a nonprofit close to Alicia’s heart, and/or the Parkdale Fire Department in Alicia’s honor. A small celebration of life will be held in the springtime for family and close friends, details to be determined.
