Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Norma Jean “Shirley” Byrd was born on December 26, 1932. She passed away peacefully this Fourth of July in the comfort of the home she shared in The Dalles, Ore., with her son David. She is survived by her sons Marc and Tony.
Shirley was born in London, U.K. and moved to Hood River, Ore., in 1973 with her sons. She was a housewife and local businesswoman. She is well remembered as the charming owner/operator of the Klickitat Café. Her food was legendary. Shirley was someone who showed love and kindness to everyone in her path. Shirley loved people, she loved birds, and she loved her sons. She was quick to smile and her clever sense of humor caused everyone around to her to appreciate life just that little bit more.
A memorial service for Shirley will be held at the Eagles Lodge, Saturday, July 9, 2016.
