Nolan Sidney Biesanz, 75 of Bayard, Neb. passed away Jan. 10, 2019, in Loveland, Colo.
Nolan was born on Sept. 17, 1943, in The Dalles, Ore., and grew up in White Salmon.
Nolan joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17 and served for 16 years. During his time with the Marine Corps, he served three tours in Vietnam. Nolan obtained the rank of “Gunny” Sergeant, E7 and completed his service as a drill instructor at Camp Pendleton, Calif.
After Nolan was discharged from the Marine Corps, he worked for a company that contracted the removal of asbestos from old buildings. Nolan also worked as a Project Leader for the National Institute of Standards and Technology spending several years in the Boulder, Colo.
Nolan retired at 62 and moved to a small farm in Bayard, Neb. He was the Quartermaster at the local VFW and was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts. He was also heavily involved with graveyard services for Veterans.
Nolan was preceded in death by his father, Merle “BZ” Biesanz, and mother Hazel (Hathaway) Norman. Nolan is survived by his wife Cindy, Bayard, Neb.; sons Nolan Jr, Arkansas and Bill, Oklahoma City, Okla.; daughter Lisa Lawton, Okalahoma; brothers Bryan Biesanz, Gaston, Ore., and Reed Norman, Marble Falls Texas; sisters Sharon Penny, Marble Falls, Texas, Tammy Butcher, Lewisville, Texas, Meredith Owen, Astoria, Ore., and Connie Warneke, Rio Rico, Ariz.
