On May 9, 2017, we lost a great man. Murray Mitchell Kiggins passed away peacefully at his home in Hood River, surrounded by loved ones.
Murray was born on Aug. 3, 1929, in Springwater to Eugene and Evelyn Kiggins. He graduated from high school in Estacada and eventually settled in Hood River, working as a log scaler and grader for many years. Murray loved sports and was often found at the Little League field watching games and jumping the fence every morning … even in his late seventies … to clean up the fields. Murray was dedicated to his family and shared his love of baseball with all of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim, who passed in January. Murray is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bobbi Kiggins; his children Gary, Sandy, Dean, Sue, and Kevin; grandchildren Heather, Ryan, Leanne, Josh, Jake, Justin, Erik, Ezra, Jason, and Katie; and 12 great grandchildren.
The family asks that donations be made in his memory to HRVHS Boys Baseball, HRVHS Girls Softball, or Hood River Little League programs.
The family would also like to express their gratitude to all of the friends and loved ones who have given their help and condolences in this trying time. Murray was an exceptional man and he will be dearly missed.
