Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Mildred O. Clinton was born Nov. 30, 1914, in Big Timber, Mont., to Lorenzo and Nora (Weaver) West. At age 7, the family moved to Oakridge, Ore., where Lorenzo was employed in logging. The next year they moved to Gravel Ford, Coos County, Ore. At age 16, the family relocated to Mt. Hood/Parkdale, living on a 40-acre cattle and hay farm.
Mildred married her childhood sweetheart, Jerry Clinton, in 1932. Jerry passed on in 1975. Mildred lived in Mt. Hood until 1992, when she moved to Eugene to be closer to family. While in the Hood River Valley, Mildred was employed for many years, first with Duckwall-Pooley and later with Diamond Fruit Growers.
Mildred was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She moved to Weatherford, Texas, in 2006 to be close to family. She passed from this world on Aug. 9, 2011.
She was preceded in death by her son, Dean Clinton, and husband, Jerry Clinton.
She is survived by her daughters, Colleen Clinton and Joan (Dale) Wendt, of Portland, Ore.; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
