Melvin Henry Curtis Jr. passed away Jan. 22, 2010, after a long illness. He was born in Sunnyside, Wash., on July 2, 1948, to Melvin Henry “Duke” Curtis Sr. and Florence Lydia (Meads) Curtis. Both parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lynde (Fink) Curtis, and children: daughters Brenda and Howard Clack and Dana and Jeff Geary, and son Melvin L. and Bretta Curtis; grandchildren Dani, Dion, Chelci, Berkley, Deidra, Cassie Rae, Kayla and Hunter; one great-grandchild, Axel Sabedra; sister MaryAnn (Curtis) and Ardill Wright; brother-in-law Ross and Judy Fink; sister-in-law Judy and Milton Lamping; good friend and ex-wife Toni Geary; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
He had a great love for his family. He enjoyed making all sorts of things with wood from fireplace mantels, tables and entertainment centers to making toys and things with Berkley and Hunter.
He had a passion for hunting, fishing, working on his favorite old truck and anything having to do with the outdoors. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Baptist Church located at Second and Main streets in Klickitat with a reception to follow in the multipurpose room at the Klickitat School.
Memorial contributions in Melvin’s name may be given to the Klickitat Fire Department. Gardner Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
