Maxine Pearl Carter

Maxine Pearl Carter passed away July 26, 2017, at her home in Hood River, Ore. She was born Feb. 2, 1926, and was 91 at the time of her passing.

Maxine was born in Hood River to Walter T. and Lula B. (Steelman) Swyers. She married James Carl Carter on Nov. 24, 1942, in Stevenson, Wash., and they were blessed with five children. During the war, she was a welder in the shipyards in the early ‘40s. She was co-owner with her husband of J.C. Logging Company until their retirement in the 1990s.
