Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Matt Klee, 40, beloved husband, brother, son and friend, passed away May 30, 2014, from injuries caused by a bicycle crash at Whistler Bike Park in Canada.
Matt is survived by his wife, Jen; mother, Pat; father, Joe; sister, Amy; and brother, Kurt, as well as his extensive circle of friends and family, all of whom he cherished.
He is mourned by the Hood River community, where his love of kite boarding, skiing, fly fishing, biking and simply giving back made him a friend to many and advocate for all.
Matt was the president of the Hood River Area Trail Stewards (HRATS) and the driving force behind expanding the features at Post Canyon's Family Man mountain bike area to accommodate riders of all levels.
Matt’s kindness and instinct for inspiring unity was effortless; and at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, at the Gorge Room at the Hood River Inn (1108 E. Marina Way), he will once again bring a community together to celebrate his life.
To honor Matt’s memory, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to HRATS or to the Matt Klee Scholarship Fund; hrats.org/joindonate; livelikematt.org.
Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson’s Tribute Center (Funerals, Receptions, Cremations), 1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River, OR 97031; 541-386-1000. Please visit andersonstributecenter.com to leave a note of condolence for family.
