Mary Lou Wyatt Braden, born Sept. 1, 1939, transitioned to glory on Dec. 4, 2015. Mary Lou was born in Forsyth, Mo., to Arter McDallas Wyatt and Amy Amelia Flynn and passed away in Gresham, Ore., with family by her side. She was 76 years of age at the time of her passing.
Mary Lou lived a simple life of love, service, faithful friendships, perseverance, and dedication to God. She grew up in Kissee Mills, Mo. During her childhood, she loved riding horses, playing with her neighbors, and spending time with her family.
On June 30, 1956, at her parents’ house in Kissee Mills, Mary Lou married William Braden. In 1971, they moved with their children to Hood River, Ore., where they have resided since.
Most of her working years, Mary Lou packed pears and apples for the local fruit industry. During her time on this earth her contributions were many. She worked hard to take care of her family and animals. She was an FFA and 4-H leader, Sunday school teacher, master seamstress and Bible correspondence course instructor. Her published writings spoke to her intelligence and passion for God and family values. Her potato soup, chocolate gravy and strawberry Jell-O cake were family favorites.
She is survived by her husband, William Braden, and her children: Art Braden, Monty Braden, Marty Braden, Maria (Braden) Cannon, and Tina (Braden) Meyers. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services to Celebrate Mary Lou’s life and mourn her passing are planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the Hood River Church of Christ, 1512 Tucker Road, Hood River.
Memorials may be made in Mary Lou’s name to the Church of Christ, where her service is being held.
