Margaret Oliver passed away peacefully on Dec. 23, 2015. She was 96 years old and is survived by her four children, Geraldine (Bob) Gruchalla of Mulino, Ron (Karen) Oliver of White Salmon, Fauneil (Lentz) Ferrell of Oregon City, and Wally (Margaret) Oliver of Oregon City; eight grandchildren, Mike Edwards, Topher Edwards, Jason Oliver, Jenny McDermott, Kaylea Parsley, Vanessa Ferlan, Krista Stringer, and Kelly Oliver, 10 great-grandchildren, Tony, Indy (deceased), Bright, Sage, Dane, Garrett, Emmerson, Stephen, Brooke and Jamie.
She was born in Otsego Township, Minn., and married Charles Oliver in Elk River, Minn. They were married for 68 years. Charles was also 96 years old when he died in March, 2009. They moved to White Salmon in 1946. They lived briefly in Portland and returned to White Salmon in 1956 where, in partnership, they owned Chuck’s Pro Hardware in White Salmon.
Margaret was active in the Rebecca Lodge and Eastern Star, holding many offices as well as pianist. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed tatting, crocheting, knitting, quilting and gardening. Margaret and Charles enjoyed dancing and playing cards. She was the quality assurance inspector for all of Charles’ many woodworking projects which included furniture and clocks, especially Grandfather clocks. All of her children are proudly enjoying their handy work.
There will be a private memorial and burial services held in the future.
