Margaret Ann Goodnight, age 70, passed away at her home in Glenwood, Wash., on May 29, 2018. She was born in Portland, Ore., on July 13, 1947, to Leonard and Lila (Woods) Goodnight. A tough, stubborn cowgirl, Margaret was raised in Bickleton, Wash., and worked alongside her father and brother on their cattle ranch. She graduated from Bickleton High in 1966.
After graduation, she moved to Hood River, Ore., where she worked as a forklift operator for Diamond Fruit. Margaret married Richard Howard and they had three children. She loved her horses and dogs.
Margaret is survived by her children and their spouses: Robin and Ron Clark of Trout Lake, Jason and Patty Howard of Hood River, and Cheyenne and Mike Emerson of Glenwood; brother Lawrence Goodnight and his wife Joann of Bickleton; nephews Larry and Kirk Goodnight; and eight grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life, Lyle “Duke” Asbury.
