Lotus Geraldine (Gerry) Brashears was born on March 28, 1929, in White Salmon, Wash. She was the only child of Zola K. (Hylton) Lane and Glen G. Lane. She grew up in White Salmon and graduated high school there. She went to Ellensburg, Wash., to college for a year, where she met her husband, Huel B. (H.B.) Brashears. They were married on June 15, 1947, and were together for 42 years, until his death in August 1989.
Gerry is survived by her two daughters, Pamela J. Knaack of Cornelius, Ore. and Shari L. Durgan and her husband, Al, of Madras, Ore. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Brent Barnes, Larry Vollmer, Sarah (Vollmer) Kryla and Miranda (Knaack) Woffinden, as well as seven great-grandchildren.
Gerry was a 61-year member of the Order of Eastern Star and also a member of Amaranth, both of which are Masonic organizations. She was also an avid collector of Belleek china and Waterford crystal, as well as collectible dolls.
H.B. worked for Pacific Power and Light and lived in Walla Walla and Sunnyside, Wash., then Bend and Prineville, Ore., until they ended up in Hood River in 1965 and stayed there until 2011. Gerry moved to an assisted living facility in Hood River in 2006 and then moved to an assisted living facility in Madras in 2011, where she resided until her death on Oct. 22, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1980, and her husband and mother in 1989.
She will be buried with H.B. at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore.
A graveside memorial service will be planned for the spring of 2019 at Willamette.
