Lona Allen Brown passed away Oct. 23, 2011, at her home in Hood River, Ore., at the age of 93. She was born Feb. 17, 1918, in Shouns, Tenn., to Jim and Ida Allen.
Lona married Charles Brown in 1933; they moved to Parkdale in 1959 and lived there for several years and then moved to Hood River. Charles passed away in 1991.
She is survived by her children, Raymond Brown, of Mountain City, Tenn., Bud Brown, of Mt. Hood, Ore., Gene Brown, of Mountain City, Tenn., Helen Funderburk, of Olympia, Wash., and Patsy Paulin, of Mt. Hood, Ore.; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter Karen Brown, son Ted and grandson Kenny Brown.
Lona had many friends and loved to cook and share with whoever was in need. She contributed to many charities. Her hobby was reading; she had hundreds of books and read each one. She recommitted her life to Christ before she passed, and is now in Heaven with her loved ones, where we will see her one day.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Lona on Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. at Anderson's Tribute Center. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Upper Valley Cemetery in Parkdale, Ore.
