On November 21, 2018, Leo Albert Keilman, age 81, passed away at his home in The Dalles, Oregon. Leo was born on June 27, 1937, in Preston, Idaho, to Ruby and Leroy Keilman. He grew up in Miles City, Montana.
Leo graduated from high school in Miles City and attended Carroll College in Helena, Montana, and Montana State University in both Great Falls, and Missoula, Montana. He graduated from St. Louis University School of Dentistry in 1965.
After graduation he spent two years in the army, stationed in Virginia. He moved to The Dalles in December of 1967 and purchased Dr. Zapp’s dental practice. He was awarded a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1995. His son Mark joined him in the practice in 1999. He retired in 2005 at the age of 68.
He married Diane Marie Biebel on August 8, 1964. They were married for 54 years.
Leo was a member of the Knights of Columbus, The Dalles Rifle and Pistol Club and St. Peter Catholic Church.
He enjoyed traveling the United States with his camper. He loved the outdoors, hiking, music and was an avid reader. He always had a corny joke for everyone he met. He made stained glass and each family member received a piece. He was also an accomplished shooter and earned many awards in indoor rifle competition.
Leo and Diane were both born with a wandering spirit. They loved to travel, they have visited 126 countries and all seven continents.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold and Paul; and grandson Joseph. His survivors include his wife, Diane; son Gregory (Fabiola) and their children Regina, Emily and Paul of The Dalles also Samantha of Flagstaff, Ariz., daughter Regina (Bill) Andrews and their children Anthony and Noah of Battle Ground, Wash., Mark (Catherine) and their children Maria and Nicholas Keilman, Nicholas Coles, Patty (Jeo) Rodriguez of The Dalles and Alexis (Andrew) Frees and Judah of Forest Grove, Ore., son Kevin and his children Alexis of The Dalles and son Zachery of Wilsonville, Ore.; brother, John Gail of Fairfield, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1222 W. 10th St., The Dalles, Oregon, on December 1, 2018, at 11 a.m.
