Kenneth Aaron White was born on Nov. 21, 1944, to Burl and Arlene (Poff) White of Blytheville, Ark.
In December of 1960, Ken married Patricia, and shortly after, started a family. In 1963, the couple moved their family to Vancouver, where Ken obtained a job at Crown Zellerbach and purchased his first home is Camas. While in Camas, Ken became interested in police work and rode as a reserve with the Camas Police Department. After graduating top of his class in the police academy, Ken went on to work for the Skamania County Sheriff’s departmentt.
Ken then took a short break, moved his family down to Arizona and took a position working for Canyon Del Oro Mining Company in Catalina, Ariz. He later returned to the Pacific Northwest working in the Portland shipyards as a welder while residing in Stevenson.
He then returned to police work in the Burns/Hines, Ore., area working for the Harney County Sheriff’s department and made his way back to the Columbia River Gorge where he worked for the Bingen/White Salmon Police department. He later left the area to pursue a career as Chief of Police in Darrington, followed by Coupeville, where he would take the same position until his retirement in 1994, after 26 years in law enforcement. Ken continued working in loss prevention for Walmart until his death.
Ken met his wife, Patty in 1988. They loved exploring new places, taking long drives with their dog, Ollie. Ken loved walking along the beach under Deception Pass on Whidbey Island with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He loved football, westerns, cats and finding pennies from heaven on the ground. He was a good man.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Patty, son, John (Lauren) Price; daughters, Penny (Bob) Morris, Tammy (Scott) Jeter, Debbie (David) White; grandchildren, Nicholas, Kelly Thomas, James, Amanda, Michael, and Henry; great grandchildren, Alisa, Gavin, Kegean, Emery, Cole, Gabriel, Patty, and Juniper; brother, Burley Joe; nephews and niece, Phillip, Deborah, and Joey.
At Ken’s request, there will be no services.
