Josephine Anne Coolidge passed away on May 25, 2018, in Klickitat, Wash. She was born to Hugo and Josephine (Rahn) Larson in Doland, S.D., on April 28, 1938.
Shortly after graduating high school, she moved to Klickitat with her family and met a handsome Marine and the love of her life, Carl Coolidge. The couple married were blessed with four children and eventually settled in Klickitat.
Josephine and Carl raised their family with lots of love and laughter and in Christ, a blessing that will last forever.
Josephine was a blessing to everyone she met — she loved with all her heart and worked with everything she had to give. She saw everyone as a unique individual and when she hugged you, you knew it was real.
We (Josephine’s children) tried to list all of the things mom did and it was amazing — in her life she was a beekeeper, ham radio operator, school aid, cook, head of housekeeping, and on top of that, we raised goats, chickens and rabbits and had gardens that couldn’t be matched. She learned to ski in her 40s and learned guitar and ukulele in her 60s and 70s. She played in a senior citizen band, she hiked the Pacific Trail around Mount Hood and she and dad took many a trip in their conversion van.
Josephine loved working in her son’s store — she got to see everyone from town, exchange stories, hugs and laughter — and she was always ready to brighten someone’s day.
She also shared God’s love in Christ with everyone she met. She didn’t want anyone to meet their maker without having been told of His love in sending His Son to atone for the sins of all.
Josephine died at home, attended by her family. We are thankful she is at home in heaven.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 10 at 3 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Klickitat. Please join the family after the service for a light supper of mom’s favorite things and lots of love and laughter.
