John Franklin Sullivan, 88, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015, at Cherry Heights Living in The Dalles, Ore. John was born Aug. 10, 1926, in Salmon, Idaho, to Roland and Eleanor (Bartl) Sullivan.
On Feb. 18, 1961, John married Naomi “Nikki” (Fitzgerald) Sullivan in Stevenson, Wash. Together they had eight children: John Fredrick, Anita, Sandra, Ron, Carol, Kitty, Sandy and Ken.
John served in the United States Army during World War II. He enjoyed spending his time fishing and camping and had an interest in radios.
John was preceded in death by his son John Fredrick; parents Roland and Eleanor; sisters Ila Lolley and June Reed; and brother Orland Sullivan.
John is survived by his wife, Nikki Sullivan; children Anita (Floyd) Heiser, Sandra Glasow, Carol (Walt) Pope, Kitty (Mike) Filbin, Sandy Crawford, Ron (Karen) Sullivan and Ken Crawford. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11, at Idlewilde Cemetery, 980 Tucker Road, Hood River. Memorials are encouraged to be made to Hospice of the Gorge or Celilo Center for Cancer Care.
