Jean Marie Hampton, 98, a long time resident of The Dalles, passed away quietly at her home on April 21, 2020.
She was born on Februrary 16, 1922 in Hood River, Ore., the first of three children to Leonard and Ruby (Rhodes) Snider.  She grew up in The Dalles, Ore.
Jean married Robert (Rusty) Hampton in Yuma, Ariz., while he was serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II on August 31, 1941.  They were married for 66 years until Rusty’s passing in 2007.
She was a member of the Gateway Presbyterian Church and P.E.O.
She is survived by her three children, son Bob Hampton of Spring Valley, Calif., daughters Bonnie Jones and Molly Myers of The Dalles; five grandchildren, Rob Hampton and wife Susanne, Elizabeth Hunt, Stephen Ensor, Kenton Myers, Jeannie and husband Kyle Marmo of San Diego, Calif., and six great-grandchildren Myles and Henry Hampton, Skyler and Sydney Fidler, Kylie and Jace Marmo; nephew Eric Ward, nieces Joan Ward, Laurie Hanseth, Nancy Phillips and Cindy Peters.
Jean was a wonderful homemaker.  She enjoyed her garden and loved to watch the birds in it. She loved the Lord, her family, friends and her longest friend, Irene Spickerman and her good friend Jodi Malone, as well as all people.
