Jason Tollefson, 41, of Lyle passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, from complications of diabetes.
Jason was born on Sept. 18, 1974, in Manitowoc, Wisc. As a child the family moved to Ellensburg where he lived the majority of his life. He graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1993 and attended Central Washington University and Perry Technical Institute where he received his certification in heating, venting, air conditioning.
Jason worked at Knudson Lumber for many years as a yard attendant and most recently as a refrigeration specialist for Underwood Fruit Co. in Dallesport.
At a young age he played many sports including basketball and tennis and was an avid spectator of all sports. He loved the outdoors including hiking and camping off the beaten path. He loved exploring the Columbia Gorge valleys between Lyle and Stevenson and Hood River and The Dalles.
He is survived by his parents Roland and Jacqueline Tollefson of Ellensburg; sister, Theresa Tollefson of Ellensburg, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and a longtime companion Alice Hinojosa and her extended family, son Giovanni (wife Shaila and their daughter Audrey) Hinojosa of Yakima and daughters Erandy Hinojosa of Provo, Utah, Leslie Hinojosa of Provo, Utah, and Jennifer Hinojosa of Beaverton, Ore. And his beloved dogs JoJo and Only.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Dean Nicholson Scholarship Fund in care of Brookside Funeral Home, 101 East 2nd Avenue, Ellensburg, Wash., 98926.
