James R. Durham, also known as Jim, of Hood River, Ore., passed away on March 31, 2018, in Parkdale, Ore.
Jim was born Michael Quanah Vraspir on Feb. 4, 1966, in Corvallis, Ore., to Marvin Vraspir and Virginia Hannon. He was later adopted by Francis Ray and Rita Durham of Gresham, Ore.
He spent his childhood in Gresham until 1976, when the whole family moved to Hood River. He attended Hood River Valley High School with his twin sister, Julie. Later in life, Jim obtained his GED. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, carving wood, and picking mushrooms. He was a carpenter by trade.
Jim is survived by his mother Rita, his sister Anita and her children, his brother Greg (Linda) and children, and twin sister Julie Flood (Scott) and her daughter Anastasia Hamilton. He is also survived by his biological siblings Carol Sivley (Ben) and children, Kathy McClaughry and children, Patty McClaughry, Cyndi McClaughry and children, Jeff McClaughry, Devaree Milhon (John) and children, half-brother Joe Vraspir and children, niece Brandi Lamiller and family, and niece Atheena McClaughry. Jim is also survived by aunt Shirley Bolden (Neal), uncle David Winans (Sandy), uncle Linn Winans Jr. (Barbara), and aunt Martha Durham and family. He’s also survived by his ex-wife, Shannon Lucas.
Jim was preceded in death by his dad, Francis R. Durham, his uncle Bill Durham, his aunt Bettie Jeane Engle (Ronald), his maternal grandparents Linnaeus and Catherine Winans, his grandparents Shorty and Zelda Durham, his biological father Marvin, his biological mother Virginia Aue, his biological brother David McClaughry (Anya) and child, twin sisters Jeannie and Joanie McClaughry, and his beloved dog Blackie.
There will be no funeral or memorial service held at this time.
Beloved son, brother, and uncle … Until we meet again.
