James Michael “Mike” Minnis, 66, a resident of The Dalles, Oregon died at home Saturday, February 8, 2014.
Mike was born September 29, 1947 in Medford, Oregon the second of three children to James and Emma (Houston) Minnis. He was raised and educated in Medford and Jacksonville, Oregon graduating from Medford High School in 1965. On February 14, 1983 he and Peggy Sue Carpenter were married. He came to The Dalles in 1977 where he owned and operated Mike Minnis Painting.
Mike enjoyed fishing, bowling, reading and spending time with his grandkids playing games and doing puzzles.
He is survived by his only daughter, Meagan Smith and her husband Shane and their children Alexis and Hailey; his brother Dan Minnis and his wife Celeste, his ex-wife Peggy Carpenter Minnis whom he was still with; stepsons Pete and John Miller and step grandson Kolt Miller.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Heart of Hospice or Home at Last animal shelter.
