JAKE BRYAN
Jake Ozaias Bryan, 83, left to be with his heavenly Father, Jan. 19, 2019, with his loving family by his side.
He was born on Aug. 6, 1935, to Claude and Margueritte (Peer) Bryan in Willow Springs, Mo., at the Shelton homestead, he was 13 of 15 children.
Jake grew up in Missouri until his family to settle in Lyle, in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy, as a FA (Fireman Apprentice) from 1954 to 1956. Jake found the Lord in 1997, while he was in his barn, he fell to his knees and accepted his heavenly Father’s calling.
He spent the majority of his work career as a long-haul driver, including owning/operating his own logging truck. He was a loyal employee and retired from Central Pre-Mix.
Jake never met a stranger and had a true love for family and friends. He was a true American Cowboy with a wealth of knowledge and talent, he was admired for his unique ability with horses and other animals. One of Jake’s greatest pleasures was sharing his experiences with others. He was a charismatic character that always had an amusing story to tell. Jake was one of a kind, a man above men.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sue, Yakima, and four children: sons Doug McQueary, Yakima, Jason (and wife Cassie) Bryan, Yakima, daughters Cheryl (and husband Rob) Carroll, Desert Hot Springs, Calif., Cindy (and husband Rick) Usher, BZ Corners. He was also blessed with eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a sister-in-law Martha Bryan, wife of the late Jerald Bryan, White Salmon; brother Jack Bryan, Lyle; sisters Wanda (and husband Jack) Little, Fruitland, Idaho, Judy Johnson, Husum, and Cheri (and husband Perry) Reese, Belfir.
He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Margueritte, brothers Jerald C. Bryan, White Salmon, William “Bill” Bryan, Pomona, Mo., Tommy E. Bryan Sr., Lyle, John D. Bryan, killed in Korean Waters; sisters Klair Emma Savage, Lacon, Ill., Mary K. Corman, White Salmon, Dorothy E. Baker, Hood River, Juanita A. Siemens, White Salmon, Dolly M. Campbell, Pasco, and Peggy Sue (still born); and granddaughter Danyell Usher, Wickenburg, Ariz.
Jake will be greatly missed and his legacy will live on. Private family graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. at West Hills Cemetery. A celebration of his long and happy life will follow at the Wiley Union Church, 2711 Wiley Rd., Yakima, at 12 p.m. where friends are welcome.
Memorials can be made to the Wiley Union Church or the Yakima Humane Society in Jake’s name.
