Jack Blake passed away on May 1, 2015, at the Hood River Care Center in Hood River, Ore. He was born in Winchester, Ill., to Harold and Maxine Blake in 1935. He met and married Betty Sollman in 1954 in Jacksonville, Ill. The family moved to Hood River in 1958.
Jack first retired in 1985 after 20 years with Martin Marietta Aluminum. He moved to Arizona for two years, managing a mobile home park. He returned to Hood River and worked for the aluminum company, by then called Northwest Aluminum, another 13 years until retirement.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Betty Blake, of Hood River; sons: Rick and his wife, Julie, of Salem, Ore., Randy and his wife, Elaine, of Beaverton, Ore., Reggie and his wife, Anita, of Spokane, Wash., and Rod and his wife, Kerry, of Hood River; and his daughter, Rebecca Lee, of Hood River. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Barbara Pledging, and brother, Dan Blake, of St. Louis, Mo.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Maxine Blake; a brother, Mark Blake, of Winchester, Ill.; and one grandson, Benjamin Blake, of Hood River.
Jack enjoyed bowling, golf and fishing. He was a family man; a loving father who was always there for his family. He was of the Baptist faith and was a very giving person who enjoyed being around people and never knew a stranger.
Remembrances may be made to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland.
There will be a celebration of life at Faith Bible Church, 1889 Belmont Drive, Hood River, at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, with a potluck to follow.
