Helen Luella Cook, a resident of The Dalles, Oregon died at home Wednesday, July 16, 2014. She was 96 years of age.
Helen was born April 13, 1918 on a farm in Newton, Kansas to Albert and Anna (King) Steiner and was raised and educated in Kansas. She and Robert Cook were married and lived in Los Angeles, California for many years where she was active in the Broadway Methodist Church and the PTA. Helen earned a life membership in PTA. She moved to The Dalles, Oregon in 1975 and was an active member of First Christian Church, as a host for Bible Study and Lady for Jam and Coffee. Helen also had worked for Dr. Hoffman and volunteered for ten years in the surgery holding area at Mid-Columbia Medical Center.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1977, sisters Lilly, Dorothy and Florence and brothers Ervin, Raymond and Paul.
She is survived by her sons, Darrell Cook and Jim Cook and his wife Nancy. One grandchild and one great grandchild also survive.
Private interment was held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
A Celebration of Helen’s Life will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church.
