Hazel Morehead, age 98, passed away on June 4, 2017, in Goldendale. She was born on Aug. 8, 1918, in Portland, Ore., to Lura (Crume) and Sylvan Lee.
Hazel married Irvin Morehead on Sept. 4, 1935.
She worked for many years and retired from J Neil’s Lumber Company and was an active member of the Lyle Grange, Good Sam RV Club and the Klickitat Museum.
During Hazel’s free time she loved making and decorating cakes, crocheting, gardening and camping with her Good Sam Club friends. She very much enjoyed gatherings with family and friends and those close to her will remember how she loved shooting her rifle out her kitchen window for prey going after her bird feeders.
She was a founding member of the Klickitat Historical Museum and very active in Klickitat Community activities.
The Morehead families have been residents of Klickitat County for well over 100 years.
She was also a long time devoted member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Klickitat Washington.
Hazel is now in Heaven with her husband Irvin Morehead and her sons Bill and James Morehead.
She is survived by her sisters Frances Toya, Sylvia Morgan of Sacramento, Calif.; daughter-in-law Linda Morehead of Klickitat; grandchildren Anita Groeneveld (Matt), Joe Schefstrom (Sheri), Bill Bryant (Jennifer), David Morehead (Debi), Jaymean Morehead, Laura Blumenkranz (David), Ben Ashby; 11 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on June 17, 2017, at Grace Lutheran Church in Klickitat. Reception followed at the Klickitat Community Center.
