Geraldine Cody-Fukatsu

Geraldine Mary Jane Cody-Fukatsu, known as Gerry to her friends, passed away at her home in Appleton on March 14, 2017. She was born on Nov. 9, 1928, in Portland, Ore., to Catherine Lavinia Agatha (Grant) and William Lawrence Allen, Sr.

During WWII, she worked at Meier and Frank in Portland, Ore., wrapping and shipping packages to soldiers overseas. She was a homemaker most of her life, also worked as a cook at a small Portland diner just after WWII, and returned to Meier and Frank as a retail clerk in the 1960s. She held retail jobs at Fred Meyer, Oak Grove, Ore., and The Oregon City Outdoor Store in the 1970s. She worked as a nursing aide at Gladstone Convalescent Home in Gladstone, Ore., in the late 1960s and early 1970s; and on the chainsaw production line at Omark Industries in Portland, Ore., in the 1960s.
