Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
George Keith Kimball IV, known as Keith, passed peacefully in his sleep at the Hood River Care Center on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016. He was born in Boulder, Colo., on Dec. 21, 1929.
Keith and his family moved to Berkeley, Calif., and then to Palo Alto, Calif., where he met his wife of 61 years, Barbara Julia Parthun, known as "Bobbie" and "Sox" by friends and family. They both went to Palo Alto High School, and met when Keith was a tow truck driver and helped Bobbie out when she crashed her car into a tree. The two were married on Apr. 12, 1951, in Palo Alto. They had four children there before moving to Mountain View, Calif., where they raised their family. They retired to Hood River, Ore., in 1991. Bobbie passed away on Jan. 10, 2013.
Keith served in the Navy on an aircraft carrier during the Korean War. He was a successful salesman, a devoted husband, a supportive father and very entertaining grandfather. He was extremely creative, building all kinds of fun things for his kids and grandkids. He loved his Hood River Church family at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship, where Denny and Sue Anderson are the pastors.
He is survived by his son Bob, son Dennis and wife Tracy, daughter Peggy and husband Mike, daughter Donna, six grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Keith always loved bragging about his 11 great grandchildren.
The Hood River Hospice Team that came to the Hodo River Care Center to take care of him were amazing.
Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations), 1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River. Visit www. AndersonsTributeCenter.com to leave a note of condolence for the family.
