Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Freeda Orcella (Short) Swafford was born Oct. 1, 1936, in Mount Pine, Ark. Her family moved to Southern Oregon in 1947, then to Hood River, Ore., in 1955.
Freeda had a strong Christian faith and had friends from school who all kept in touch. Before she married Keith Swafford, she worked at the First National Bank in Hood River.
Keith and Freeda had one daughter, Tammy. Freeda was grandma to four and great-grandma to four.
She is survived by two sisters and had one more sister and three brothers.
We will miss her greatly, but are so relieved that she is now with her husband of 54 years. See you soon, Freeda!
Gifts to help with the cost of the funeral can be sent to Tami’s Pine Valley Funeral Home, PO Box 543, Halfway, OR 97834.
