Francis "Fritz" Lloyd Kennard, born Jan. 8, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa, passed away Aug. 1, 2011, at his home in Mount Hood, Ore., with family by his side.
Fritz was the fourth child of Glenn and Ethel (Wilson) Kennard. He married Mary Lamping in The Dalles, Ore., on Nov. 2, 1963.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dick and Bob; sister, Marlene, and a daughter, Darnell.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Mount Hood; two daughters, Monique Taylor and her husband, Rod, of Troutdale, Ore., and Debra Arbuckle and her husband, Russel, of Vancouver, Wash.; grandchildren Jason Workman and his wife, Amanda, of Bothel, Wash., Thomas, Steven and Elissa Arbuckle, of Vancouver, Wash., and Ryan and Callie Taylor, of Troutdale, Ore.
Fritz loved his family and enjoyed fishing and camping with them. He was an inventor and loved making life easier with his inventions. He retired in 1992 from the U.S. Forest Service, Mount Hood Ranger Station.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at the 3 Mile Cemetery in The Dalles. A potluck dinner will follow at the Kennard family home in Mount Hood.
Memorials are encouraged to Providence Hospice of the Gorge or the Parkdale Fire Department in Fritz's memory.
