Edward Everett Arends

Edward Everett Arends, 73, of The Dalles passed away at his home March 28 surrounded by family. No public services will be held.

Ed was born August 9, 1941 in Portland, Ore., to Edward & Henrietta (Cluff) Arends. They later moved to The Dalles where Ed attended school along with his two younger brothers. After school, he enlisted in the Army in 1958 serving 4 yrs. He later met Lillian Hettrick of Glenwood, WA and they were married on June 14, 1967. Together they raised three daughters, who all attended school in The Dalles. “Big Ed” as he was known on the water, worked as a Tug Boat Captain navigating barges between Astoria, Ore., and Lewiston, ID for 34 years. He enjoyed camping with family and was always looking for a chance to go fishing or hunting.
