r. W Boyd Jacobsen, age 97, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 26, 2020 at The Springs “memory care” section, in The Dalles.
Boyd Jacobsen is survived by his wife Gabrielle Jacobsen also at The Springs, and his son Robert Jacobsen, daughters Patricia (Jacobsen) McGowan, Kathleen (Jacobsen) Gross and grandchildren Justin Jacobsen, Kirsten (McGowan) Guisto, Danielle (Jacobsen) Muller, Sean McGowan, Eric Gross and 7 great grandchildren.
Boyd was born and grew up in Logan, Utah; attending college and entered the Army Infantry in WWII seeing service in France/Germany as a 1st lieutenant. Following the end of the war in 1945 he married “Gaby” in 1945 from France and shortly thereafter moved back to Logan, Utah.
Boyd graduated dental school in Portland and set up his practice in 1951 in The Dalles, Ore. Upon retiring at age 65 Boyd became involved as a volunteer in the River Front Trail planning/development and actively worked on the east section of the trail towards the Dalles Dam.
There will be no memorial service per Boyd’s wishes. Family is “sheltering in place” per the virus, and family will meet later for scattering of the ashes.
