Doris H. Benedict, 76 of The Dalles, Oregon, passed away on May 22, 2014 at The Springs at Mill Creek. Doris was born on January 12, 1938, in Tygh Valley, Oregon, to Charles Engel and Hazel Benton Engel. Doris completed her schooling in the Dufur, Oregon area. On January 1, 1953, Doris married Albert Benedict in Goldendale, Washington.
Doris was employed as an Avon Representative for over thirty years, and was also an apartment manager. She resided in Redmond, Oregon, Hood River, Oregon and finally in The Dalles, Oregon. Doris was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church in The Dalles at the time of her passing. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and reading, and played the organ at variuos churches for 55 years.
Doris is survived and will be greatly missed by her son and daughter-in-law Tim (Kim) Benedict of Hood River, Oregon and her daughter and son-in-law Jodi (Mark) Van Metre of Hood River, Oregon. Doris is also survived by granddaughters Jessie (Christopher) Godsil, and Alisha (Brandon) Mooney, and grandson Allan (Lori) Van Metre. She is also survived by great grandchildren Christian Godsil, Reagan Mooney and Addison and Ellie Beth Van Metre. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her son Terry Benedict.
Services for Doris H. Benedict are scheduled for Saturday May 31, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hood River Alliance Church 2650 Montello Avenue Hood River, Oregon. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hearts of Hospice Hood River, Oregon.
