Derald D. Stace was born April 24, 1942, in Baker, Ore., to Jack Stace and Dora Rone Stace.
He married M. Carol Kerst, on Nov. 8, 1958, in The Dalles, Ore. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1959, where he served until honorably discharged.
After his military service, he went to work at Harvey Aluminum and finished his 35-year career at Northwest Aluminum. During his career, he traveled to Japan, Norway, Canada, and locations throughout the US.
Derald loved going to the beach, watching baseball, fishing, deer hunting, gardening, and restoring old cars. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Columbia Gorge Hustlers’ baseball board, Master Gardeners, Elks, Eagles, Lions and Kiwanis organizations.
Derald passed away at his home in Dallesport on May 27, 2018, surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife Carol, son Rick (Marie) of Shenzhen, China, son Jeff (Mel) of Bonney Lake, daughter Sue (Wayne) Mattox of Dallesport, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be Friday, June 15, 1 p.m. at the Gateway Presbyterian Church, 1111 Dry Hollow Rd in The Dalles, Ore.
