Verne Root
Verne Leroy Root, a longtime Mosier, Ore., resident, died at his home on Dec. 28, 2012. He was born Oct. 24, 1924, to Clyde and Christine Root of Mosier.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lois, and six children: daughters Carol (and Ross) Seeber and Alice (and Jeronimo) Montero, son, Wade (and Suzie) Root, daughters Mary (and Mark) Barnett, Susan Root and Julie Boston, Sally (and Lupe) Beltran; honorary daughter Pam (and Richard) Morgan; 17 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Hank Gamer and sister-in-law Fay Baumgartner; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Verne was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother Kenneth and sister Bernice.
Memorial services were held on Thursday, Jan. 3, at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mosier Grange for a scholarship in his name.
Ed Holmer
Edward O. “Ed” Holmer passed away Jan. 4, 2013, in Hood River, Ore. Ed was born Aug. 13, 1953.

Brad Lynch
Bradley James Lynch, 50, died Dec. 27, 2012, following a kayaking accident in the Columbia River. Brad was born July 25, 1962, in Nampa, Idaho.
Brad is survived by his parents, Jim and Mary Lou Lynch, of Boise, Idaho; his brother, Patrick Lynch, of Parkdale, Ore., and Patrick’s wife and children Beatriz, Sebastian and Izabel. He is also survived by his uncles, Jim Hupe, of Guatemala, and Jack Acree, of Boise, Idaho; and his aunt, Christine Hudson, of Garden Valley, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his uncle Mark Hupe, of Nampa, Idaho.
Services will be private.
