Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
David Bradley Meyer, beloved brother, father, grandfather and friend, of Trout Lake, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017, at Providence Medical Center in Portland, Ore.
David was born in Yakima to Gilbert and Velda Meyer on Dec. 17, 1951. He was their youngest of three children. Dave graduated from Trout Lake High School in 1970 and went on to attend Western Baptist College in Salem, Ore., where he played basketball for the college.
Dave later trained as a welder, heavy equipment diesel mechanic, and a log truck driver, he was self-employed in all of these fields throughout his life.
He was also a member of the Mt. Adams Elks where he would attend events and go to watch his team the Seahawks play. Dave loved watching sports and especially loved sharing this passion with his children.
He was an avid motorcycle rider, who loved going on Harley rides with friends and family. He also had an enthusiasm for classic cars; the last one he enjoyed tinkering on had won him the student’s choice award at his daughter’s school in California.
What Dave enjoyed the most was spending time doing whatever the season permitted with friends, children, grandchildren, and his many nieces and nephews, be it snowmobiling, four wheeling or hanging out at the Trout Lake Grocery Store having coffee. He will be missed by all those that he called friend and family.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Velda Meyer and his brother Greg Meyer.
He is survived by his sister Karen Neal, sister-in-law Bev Meyer, children Bradley Meyer, Tara Schwerdt, Josh Conway, and Beyyine Ozkan, as well as his grandchildren Dylan, Channing, Atticus, and Lockett. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
A memorial service will be held later this summer in July in Trout Lake.
