Danny Leroy Arends passed away unexpectedly Saturday, August 15, 2015, while away in Banks, Ore., attending a fast draw competition.
He was born in Watford City, N.D., to Dorothy and Luppo Arends. He was raised in Montana before moving to Oregon. He worked as an ironworker after being honorably discharged from the Army as Specialist 3rd Classman.
Lefty was very active in cowboy action shooting, fast draw competitions, the Fort Dalles Floozies and Friends. He enjoyed drag racing and was an active member of the VFW, and the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed watching his grandkids playing sports, and had been known to occasionally show up at the baseball field just for a hamburger.
Lefty was preceded in death by his wife Barbara of 45 years. He is survived by his children: Dana Arends Ringlbauer, Chelley Samsel, William Troy Arends, Dennis Arends; stepchildren: Debbie Watson, Jacee Belo, Norm Brock, Chuck Fitzpatrick, and several brothers and sisters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A celebration of life is set for September 5, 2015 from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. at The Dalles Eagles Lodge.
