Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Daniel Henry McBride was born on Sept. 7, 1949, in San Jose, Calif., to Margaret Mae (Sikes) and John Henry McBride.
Dan moved up to his property on Burdoin Mountain with his wife Carrie in 1981, where he carved out his own piece of paradise with his own two hands, while working as a full-time engineer for the forest department.
He was a dedicated part of his children’s lives, and he loved them more than anything this world had to offer.
He met his close friend Frank Moore in 1996 at Les Schwab, just being his normal friendly self, and in so he gained more than a friend but a lifelong companion.
Dan was an active member in his community, more than willing to help when and where he could, and he was loved by so many.
He dedicated himself to the Gleaners helping to assure no one went without, and in his last year he was appointed as Grand Master of the Grange where he continued to assist the community in many various ways.
He devoted himself to his children, his grandchildren, his friends and his community.
Dan passed away on his mountain on Jan. 23, 2017, at the age of 67. He will be sorely missed.
Call Gardner Funeral Home at 509-493-1323 for memorial service information.
