Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Carol Gladys (Clamp) Warner died peacefully on Jan. 2, 2018. She was 92 years old. She was born in Tacoma on Christmas Day, 1925, to Sam and Gladys (Hall) Clamp. Carol was the youngest of three daughters. Her sisters were Marianne Smith and Ruth Gentili, both now deceased. Carol married Herb Warn
er in 1943. They had three daughters, Lynn Fitch (Earle) of Graham, Kathryn Ness (Eric) of Olympia, and Jane Warner, who died in 2010. Carol is also survived by three grandchildren, Samuel (Valentina), Benjamin (Nikki), and Daniel (Katie), three great-grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Carol’s special joy was her family. Following World War II, Carol and Herb moved to White Salmon, where Herb taught at Columbia High School and Carol was a devoted homemaker and loving mother. The family belonged to White Salmon Methodist Church. Carol and Herb both enjoyed singing in the church choir. In 1963, the family moved to Tacoma. Carol was employed by the Tacoma School District as an elementary school secretary. She loved working with the children. Herb died in 1989, leaving his wife and partner of 46 years. After her retirement a few years later, Carol devoted her time to hiking with the Mountaineers, walking Pt. Defiance trails, gardening, and enjoying her family and many friends. Carol met Jack Damonte during a trip to England, and they become good friends. Together they hiked in the mountains and traveled around the world. Carol was dearly loved. Her generous, kind, and joyful spirit will live on in her family and friends, who will gather this coming summer to honor her memory. The family thanks the wonderful caregivers at Tumwater Senior Living where Carol spent her final year. Memorials can be made to Pierce County Habitat for Humanity or The Salvation Army.
