Caren Flothow

Caren Flothow passed away peacefully on Oct. 24, 2012, at Brookside Manor of Hood River, Ore. Caren was born on Sept. 24, 1929, in Germany, and was the oldest of four children born to Walter and Anna Preiss.

After the end of World War II at the age of 17, Caren moved to Paris, and later to New York City, in order to pursue her career as a professional ballerina, dancer, model and actress. She was a member of the June Taylor Dancers and the dancing ensemble in the original cast of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, which played at the Zeigfeld Theatre in New York City from December 1949 to September 1951. She also appeared in various magazines in both the United States and Europe as a model.
