Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Allen Dale Lane was born Dec. 25, 1948, in a cotton camp in Arizona to Allen George and Grace Arlene (Smith) Lane.
He spent his early childhood in Ventura, Calif. It soon became evident that Dale had "special needs" and in the early 1960s there were not many options for him.
He spent his teen years into his 20s in a mental hospital in Costa Mesa, Calif. He later would be in and out of group homes but always close were his mom and dad who brought him home every weekend.
In 2003 the family moved to Oregon to be near their son Arlie, whose health was failing. His mother passed away in August 2003 and Dale moved to a care home in Lebanon, Ore.
The staff at his home were the most kind and wonderful people that ever cared for Dale. They treated him like family and loved him very much.
Laura and her team treated him with great respect and love up to his passing on Sept. 3, 2011. They will grieve with the rest of family as all will miss him terribly.
While living in Lebanon, Dale became engaged to a very sweet girl at the home named Teresa. Their love for each other was simple and very sweet.
Dale loved his family and holidays; Christmas was his favorite. He loved radios, stereos and remote control cars, trucks and boats. He always looked forward to the weekends when Arlie and his family would come visit and take him shopping to "Wally World."
He leaves behind his sisters, Jan and Cheryl; brother Arlie and his wife, Mary; and nieces and nephews who will miss their Uncle Dale.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jeffrey and sister Peggy, all who he joins in that wonderful place Dale called "Paradise."
