Oregon Department of Transportation is working with City of Cascade Locks to enhance WaNaPa Street, the main thorough-fare through the community, and an ODOT maintained facility following the original alignment of the Historic Columbia River Highway.
This coming fall, the state will use House Bill 2017 funding ($750,000) to replace and upgrade the sidewalk ramps through town, according to an ODOT press release.
The project extends from Toll House Road (Bridge of the Gods intersection) to Forest Lane. ODOT will be improving the ramps at 11 intersections including installing crosswalks at Regulator Street, Oneonta Street and School Street.
Following the ADA enhancements, in spring 2020 ODOT will repave the roadway and install permanent crosswalk parking and other markings, using maintenance funds.
