 Meanwhile, last week’s history mystery was identified by Gary Conley, who recognized the old Hotel Dalles now opposite the post office. Susan Buce (who provided the picture, courtesy Columbia Gorge Discovery Center) remembers eating her first plate of scallops there. The building was run for many years by Tom Foley. An old carriage used by Hotel Dalles now resides at the Fort Dalles Museum.
