THE DALLES — The Dalles Art Center will kick off 2025 with an open show, designed to showcase the artists of the Columbia Gorge, and the history of the area and the diversity of its communities.
“Where I Come From: Celebrating the diversity of the Columbia Gorge through art” runs Jan. 22 through March 1, 2025, at The Dalles Art Center, 220 East Fourth Street.
A free opening night reception is Thursday, Jan. 23 from 5-7 p.m. Guests are encouraged to dress in attire that reflects their cultural or personal heritage.
An artist’s talk is set for Thursday, Jan. 30, 7 p.m. and tickets are $5.
This exhibit invites artists to explore their heritage and identity through creative expression. Whether reflecting on a rural upbringing in the Dufur Valley, fishing trips on the Klickitat River, or ancestral traditions from distant lands, “Where I Come From” provides a platform for sharing stories through art.
Call for artists
Artists are invited to submit up to two pieces for inclusion in this non-juried show. All mediums are accepted: paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, ceramic art, jewelry and textile/fabric arts. This theme is widely open to interpretation. We want to see what makes you “you,” whether that be a painting of your homestead or homeland, a depiction of a cherished family tradition, or an artistic method.
Submission details:
Deadline is January 18, 2025. A submission fee of $20 covers up to two submissions. Visit thedallesartcenter.org for submission guidelines and more information.
