THE GORGE — The Dalles finished third and Hood River Valley (HRV) was 11th in their respective divisions of the 2025 Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) State Cheer Championships.
The competition was held Feb. 15-16 at Oregon City High School after it was delayed a day because of inclement winter weather.
The Dalles was third in the Class 4A/3A/2A/1A COED Traditional division. There were nine schools competing in that division, won by Gladstone High. The Dalles scored 83.80 points. The performances were judged on building skills, tumbling and jumps, and overall routine.
Members of The Dalles state cheer squad were: captain Ellasyn Anderson, captain Jamie Bastian, Lilly Perritt, Keely Byrd, Lillya Dahl, Noelani Eggers, Athena Lepinski, Hunter Janson, Le’Aziah Collins, and alternate Madi Grant. The team was coached by Kris Vassar, and Tara Mahoney was team choreographer.
Hood River was 11th out of 14 teams in the 5A Traditional Division. The Eagles scored 88.8 points; Crescent Valley of Corvallis won with a score of 106.8.
Members of the HRV state cheer squad were: Alice Torres, Crystal Lopez, Jynel Heredia, Oliva Garcia, Sydney Stanley, Lilah Hibdon, Peyton Sherrell, Judith Magana, Rachel Davidson, Kennedy Siriwatanarong, and Mia Heredia. The team was coached by Lisa Kawachi; Brian Cao was team choreographer.
