HOOD RIVER — Hood River 4-H welcomes new 4-H Fair Ambassadors for 2024 fair season: Hailey Harjo of Hood River and Karyna Marquez of Odell.
The two were chosen after a rigorous application and interview process that screened candidates for leadership abilities, 4-H expertise, and communication skills. As 4-H Fair Ambassadors, Harjo and Marquez will represent 4-H at various events and activities in Hood River County leading up to and during the Hood River County Fair in July.
About the 2024 ambassadors
Hailey Harjo
“I am 16 and am a Junior at Hood River Valley High School,” writes Harjo. “I am an active member in the Fat, Feathers, and Fur 4-H club. This is my eighth year as a 4-H member. I have been in 4-H since I was in fourth grade. In those years I have entered many exhibits in the 4-H building. I have also shown chickens, turkeys, ducks, sheep, and goats. My favorite part of the fair is getting to see the community enjoy what I plan on doing for the rest of my life.”
Karyna Marquez
“I am 17 years old and I attend Hood River High School where I am currently a junior,” said Marquez. “I am a part of the Chasin’ Banners 4-H Club and this is my 8th year in 4-H. I have shown all 4 large animal species at the fairgrounds but currently showing sheep and hogs. My favorite part about the county fair is being part of a community.”
