Two-time Class 5A girls water polo state champion Hood River Valley opened its 2024 season Sept. 7 with a, 6-5, win over 6A Tualatin at the Mt. Hood Community College tournament in Gresham.

The Eagles, coached by Kellie Dunn since the program’s inception in 2014, won state titles in 2022 and 2023, and also in 2016, 2017 and 2019. Hood River Valley was second in state in 2018 and 2021.
