THE DALLES — After spending 25 years in the U.S. Air Force and moving around the world, Dr. Daniel Gabriel feels blessed to have found a home in the Gorge after opening Gabriel Orthodontics four years ago at 1625 E. 12th St.
Formerly Bickler Orthodontics, the practice has a 40-year history of serving the Gorge.
“We are privileged in getting to know our patients and families throughout the course of orthodontic treatment,” Gabriel said. “We’re now treating the grandkids of some of the patients that were [originally] treated here.”
As an orthodontic specialist, the practice offers services to those of all ages, but encourages children to have an orthodontic exam at around 7 years old to ensure all permanent teeth are up and growing properly. They treat adolescents and adults with fixed braces and clear aligner trays, as well as patients who have TMJ (jaw joint) issues or might need jaw surgery as part of their treatment.
“We’re committed to providing a positive patient experience for everyone that walks through our door,” Gabriel said. “Our amazing staff creates a fun, compassionate atmosphere for our patients where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. We value spend-ing time listening to and educating our patients on their orthodontic issues, and then including the patient in formulating a treatment option that best meets their needs.”
Longterm relationships are a unique aspect of orthodontics, he added. “Creating beautiful smiles that can transform a patient’s life is very rewarding. We all love to show our patient’s the before and after pictures on the day their braces come off.”
Gabriel enjoys the community feel — and outdoor activities — in the Gorge. “I love that we have access to so many diverse things without having to deal with huge crowds or traffic jams,” he said. “The natural beauty of the Gorge and all the outdoor activities to get in-volved with makes this area very unique in the United States. The small-town feel and friendly, authentic people makes the Gorge so special and such an ideal place to live and work.”
